Eyelash Taping Procedure-
• Use micropore tape. Cut 2 pieces 2-3 inches long.
• Place pieces on the back of your left hand. This helps de-tacify the adhesive on the tape and will ease removal.
• Take the first piece and cut it down the middle into 2 pieces. Do the same with the second so you have 4 strips. Place them on the back of your left hand.
• Take one piece and create a tab at the end for easy removal. This will allow you to easily lift the tape for removal.
• Begin on the right eye. Ask the client to open their eyes and look up.
• With your left thumb or middle finger, slightly pull down their lower lid while simultaneously placing one piece of tape over the bottom lashes on the outer half of the eye at an angle The tape should completely cover the outer half of the bottom lashes so not even the roots of the lashes are showing.
• Repeat on the left eye.
• Take another piece of tape from the back of your left hand and, in the same manner, cover the bottom lashes from tearduct to center. The tape should look like a wide “V” and all the bottom lashes should be completely covered. If they are not, readjust the tape.
• Repeat on the left eye.
• Ask the client to close their eyes and ask if the tape placement is comfortable, if it is not, then readjust the tape. The top lashes should now lay nicely on the tape. If the end lashes are pushed upward by the tape, redo the tape and pull the lower lid down a little further as you are applying the tape.
TIP: If removal seems difficult or painful for your client, dip an earbud in water, lift the tab and wedge the earbud under the tape, holding the skin taut as you pull the tape up.
